A webcam is not necessary to view cams or to chat.
Who can CamChat?
Any adult (18+) is welcome to join our chat. We do not discriminate based on nationality, gender (real or perceived), sexual orientation, handicap, religion, color or creed. We do ask that users are respectful of each other and do not harrass, threaten, or otherwise abuse other users.
Why do you have to be an adult?
CamChat.org is an ADULTS-ONLY site. Conversation may contain adult-oriented material. While pornography is prohibited, there may be material on the site that is not appropriate for children.
How do I show my cam?
First, log into the chatroom. Read all the instructions CAREFULLY. Once you are on, you will see your cam preview on the left. Below that is a "Publish" button. Click that to broadcast your cam. For better results, choose the 320x240 video setting. You also have the option to choose who gets to see your cam.
How do I view cams?
When you are logged in, you will see a list in white on the far right. Highlight the name of the cam you'd like to view, then click "View Selected Cam".
I tried to view someone's cam, but they denied the request. How can I see their cam?
Users are not forced to show their cams to anyone. You should respect their decision. Do not keep requesting to view their cam.
Why are there two lists of users?
The inner list are people in the chatroom. The outer list are people who are able to view/show webcams. If you logged in correctly, you will be on both screens.
What are these messages I'm getting when I log in?
The chatroom uses a java applet to connect to an IRC chatroom. The webcams use Flash to stream video content. You need to allow both the Java applet to run and the Flash application to access your webcam.
What is that strange noise I'm hearing?
More than likely, it is the Flash app's sounds. You can mute those by clicking on the button with the musical note on the left of the chatroom.
Why are there pictures popping up on my screen?
Users are able to share photos using the "Upload" button. You can turn off the picture popups by clicking the yellow button below the sound mute.
How do I turn on my mic?
Make sure you have unmuted the microphone by clicking on the button with the microphone icon.
How do I hear someone's cam?
Unmute their cam's speaker by clicking the X off under their cam.
Can I log into the chatroom with an IRC script?
If you would like to use a script to chat, you can use the following settings:
